Equitable, 3D Feedback and Grading

Shifting from Grading to Appraising and Developing a Vision and Plan for Equitable Grading and Feedback in Science and Engineering

Wondering how to promote learning through meaningful and actionable feedback in relation to three-dimensional learning goals in science and engineering? Want to understand how to use grades to better communicate how your learners are growing in their understanding of the NGSS? Join us for a two day virtual workshop to figure out how to implement equitable grading practices and provide meaningful feedback in your classroom.

Together, we will:

  • Develop a vision for our feedback and grading practices to guide our work

  • Examine learner artifacts through an asset-based lens to understand how learners demonstrate understanding

  • Gain awareness of the inequities and impacts of traditional grading practices

  • Examine multiple types of feedback to identify features that support feedforward learning

  • Investigate multiple options of grading practices and how to work with existing grading policies and technology tools

  • Make a plan to move toward more caring and equitable grading practices to implement in the fall
